The EQS SUV’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The EQS SUV has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The EQS SUV’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The EQS SUV has a standard Post Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the EQS SUV. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the Wagoneer S.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EQS SUV has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the EQS SUV and Wagoneer S have rear cross-traffic warning, but the EQS SUV has Active Brake Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Wagoneer S’ Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the EQS SUV and the Wagoneer S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Mercedes EQS SUV weighs 580 to 991 pounds more than the Jeep Wagoneer S. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The EQS SUV comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Wagoneer S’ 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are more reliable than Jeep With 32 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Mercedes higher than Jeep.

The EQS SUV has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Wagoneer S doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the EQS SUV’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Wagoneer S:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the EQS SUV has larger standard tires than the Wagoneer S (275/45R21 vs. 235/50R20). The EQS SUV’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Wagoneer S (F:275/40R22 & R:285/40R22 vs. 235/50R20).

The EQS SUV’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer S’ standard 50 series tires. The EQS SUV’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Wagoneer S’ 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EQS SUV has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Wagoneer S. The EQS SUV offers optional 22-inch wheels.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQS SUV can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the EQS SUV uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Wagoneer S, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The EQS SUV has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Wagoneer S’ suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The EQS SUV has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The EQS SUV’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The EQS SUV’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQS SUV’s wheelbase is 13.4 inches longer than on the Wagoneer S (126.4 inches vs. 113 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the EQS SUV is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 1.7 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Wagoneer S.

The EQS SUV handles at .86 G’s, while the Wagoneer S Limited 4dr Sport Utility pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The EQS SUV executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the Wagoneer S Limited 4dr Sport Utility (26 seconds @ .7 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .72 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Maybach EQS 680’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the Wagoneer S’ (36 feet vs. 40 feet). The EQS SUV’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Wagoneer S’ (39 feet vs. 40 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EQS SUV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Wagoneer S (7.3 vs. 6.4 inches), allowing the EQS SUV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The EQS SUV 550 4MATIC’s minimum ground clearance is 1.4 inches higher than on the Wagoneer S (7.8 vs. 6.4 inches).

Passenger Space

The EQS SUV offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Wagoneer S can only carry 5.

Cargo Capacity

The EQS SUV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility with its rear seat folded (74.2 vs. 61 cubic feet).

Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the EQS SUV’s second row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Payload

The EQS SUV has a higher standard payload capacity than the Wagoneer S (1190 vs. 1033 lbs.).

Servicing Ease

An ASSYST PLUS is standard on the EQS SUV to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Jeep doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Wagoneer S.

Ergonomics

If the windows are left open on the EQS SUV the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Wagoneer S can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The EQS SUV’s optional power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the sport utility. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a power rear door.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQS SUV to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid. Its standard heated washer nozzles will defrost the washer fluid but not the windshield.

The Wagoneer S’ cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The EQS SUV’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the EQS SUV Maybach has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the EQS SUV to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the EQS SUV and the Wagoneer S offer available massaging front seats. The EQS SUV Maybach also has standard massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Wagoneer S.

The EQS SUV’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Wagoneer S’ automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
